FAJAR.CO.ID, JAKARTA—Chairman of the Indonesian Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) Rahmat Bagja believes that the call to prayer showing PDIP presidential candidate Ganjar Pranowo on television stations does not violate campaign rules.
“Is that an election participant? Then to convince him, where to convince him?” Bagja said.
He explained that until now there had been no recorded election participants. Bagja explained that the campaign includes election participants and statements to convince the public to vote for him.
He said that up to now, Ganjar is not an election participant because he has not officially registered as a presidential candidate with the KPU.
It is known that the registration schedule for presidential and vice presidential candidates will be around October or November 2023. “We haven’t registered yet,” stressed Bagja.
Thus, the video of Ganjar’s call to prayer on television stations is deemed not to be in conflict with Law Number 17 of 2017 concerning Elections.
Previously, on Monday (11/9), Indonesian people were busy discussing the content of the call to prayer featuring Ganjar Pranowo on a private TV broadcast network.
This broadcast created perceptions and was linked to identity politics and finally KPI summoned the private TV network to clarify. (Warta Ekonomi)
