Minimum wage in 35 cities / regencies in Central Java has increased compared to 2020. Governor of Central Java, Ganjar Pranowo said the increases varied from 0.75% to 3.68%.
“The increase varies from 0.75% to 3.68% in accordance with the results of the discussion of the Municipal District Wage Council and the recommendation of the Regent or Mayor of each region,” said Ganjar in a written statement on the sidelines of visiting the Tamanagung Village refugee post. Muntilan District, Magelang Regency, Saturday (11/21/2020).
The increase in UMK, he said, had been recorded in the decision of the Governor of Central Java on November 20 Number 561/61 of 2020 concerning Minimum Wages in 35 Regencies and Cities in Central Java.
“This decision is a social safety net in order to carry out the function of wage protection for workers or laborers and business continuity for companies or businesses in Central Java Province,” said Ganjar.
Ganjar explained, regents and mayors in submitting recommendations minimum wage refers to the prevailing laws and regulations and input from the respective Regency / City Wage Councils.
He asserted that this decision began to take effect on January 1, 2021, in accordance with Law 11/2020 on Job Creation in Chapter IV of Employment.
