Gang Dispute in Mott Haven leaves Innocent Victims Injured in Shootings

NEW YORK – The alleged gang dispute in the Mott Haven area of ​​the Bronx has left several innocent people injured in shootings during the week.

At noon Thursday, a shooting in the middle of a shopping area on 138th Street, between Brook and St Ann’s avenues, left a woman dead after being struck by a stray bullet.

Another 34-year-old woman received a wound to the arm and ran into a nearby warehouse where she was helped by other people.

“There was a 71-year-old woman standing waiting to cross the street, one of the bullets hit the woman in the back causing her to fall and a 34-year-old woman also received a gunshot wound,” explained Carlos Nieves, NYPD spokesperson. .

The deceased woman was identified as Enriqueta Rivera.

While the injured woman was taken to Lincoln Hospital where she was reported as stable.

The incident remains under investigation. The gunman wearing black was last seen on E. 138th St. and has not been captured.

The shooting is one of several that occurred in the area during the week.

On Wednesday, a woman was grazed by another stray bullet a few blocks from where this incident occurred.

On Tuesday, an 8-year-old boy was wounded in the leg during another shooting.
