GameStop Closing All Stores in Ireland, Including Cork
GameStop, the popular video game and electronic retailer, has announced its closure in Ireland, including all six stores in Cork city and county. The closure will result in job losses, but the exact number is yet to be confirmed. The company had already informed customers in March that it would cease the sale of gift cards, trade-in and purchase of used devices and accessories, GameStop Pro Loyalty services, game protection, and pre-orders of selected products in its Irish stores.
Although GameStop is closing, customers can avail of discounts on hundreds of items until they run out. The company has tweeted about its closing, accompanied by a graphic that reads ‘we are closing, everything must go,’ along with a link to its website. The American chain has apologized to its loyal customers, stating that it will no longer issue gift cards, and store credit will be provided on certain selected goods and services. The store credit must be used as soon as possible in stores or online.
