If you’re still looking to get your hands on the new PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X / S and Nintendo Switch, Thursday January 21 is your next big opportunity.
Video game retailer GameStop announced on Twitter its plans to restock hard-to-find consoles. A limited number of PS5, Xbox Series X / S, and Nintendo Switch bundles will be available for purchase on January 21 at gamestop.com.
It’s unclear how many units will be available, but they won’t last long as consoles have sold out quickly since they launched last year. According to GameStop’s Twitter post, customers will be notified via Twitter once the consoles are available online.
“We’ll let you know when they’re live, but you may want to turn on post notifications so you don’t miss out,” the tweet read.
The PS5 and Xbox Series X / S consoles were released in November 2020 and have been among the most sought after items by gamers ever since. The consoles have been sold out at all major retailers and restockings occur rarely.
The video game industry has seen a dramatic increase in sales as people across the country have been at home during the COVID-19 pandemic. The industry is projected to generate $ 159 billion globally this year.
GameStop recently released a report detailing sales results for the nine-week holiday period in 2020. The company saw a 4.8% increase in in-store sales and a 309% increase in online sales largely due to the launch of the new consoles.
