Games GTA5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 offline commemorating George Floyd

Developer Rockstar Games announced this on his Twitter account. Both games cannot be played online from 20:00 to 22:00 Dutch time.


“We hope that after this commemoration you will honor with us the many victims of racist injustice in the United Cities,” the company continues. “And to support the families and businesses of black families who are currently protesting on the street.”

The game studio is thus behind the Black Lives Matter movement. Worldwide is currently protesting against racism against black Americans, after Floyd was killed in a heavy-handed arrest. A cop pushed Floyd’s neck for a long time, even after he said he couldn’t get any air.

“Pointless, tragic and shocking”

Multiple game and technology companies have recently expressed support for the Black Lives Matter movement. Apple CEO Tim Cook called Floyd’s death “meaningless, tragic and shockingand criticized deep-seated racism in the United States.

Game publisher Square Enix donated $ 250,000 to the movement. In addition, the company doubles every donation employees make in the near future. Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft also expressed their support for the protesters.
