Games Bavaria Munich eV views the federal government game funding to stop with great disappointment and concern.
Games Bavaria Munich eV is very disappointed and concerned about the suspension of federal funding for games announced last week. Blocking the application not only jeopardizes the planning and existence of development studies, but also hampers the positive prospects for Germany as a whole as a place of play.
“Therefore, we fully welcome and support the statements made by the digital minister of Bavaria, Judith Gerlach, calling for the lifting of the funding block and the increase in federal funding.”
At the same time, concrete support from the Bavarian state government must now follow. An increase in state-level funding and an intensification of exchanges between politics and the gaming industry not only help the companies directly affected, but at the same time would underline the seriousness of Ms. Gerlach’s statements.
“Bavaria must serve as a model for other federal states. Not least to live up to its claim as a leader in innovation, development and play. A statement that unfortunately at the moment is not reflected in the amount of funds made available to finance the games. We therefore appeal to Ms Gerlach to follow up on his words with deeds for our region and we hope for a constructive dialogue, “said Johannes Roth, CEO of GBM.
The GBM has been asking for a significant increase in funding for games in Bavaria for several years.
