Epic Games users on Reddit are posting multiple reports that using Epic Games’ bootloader causes CPU temperature spikes.

The Hot Hardware portal editor noted that the problem occurs with AMD Ryzen and Intel processors. According to his research, the temperature can jump by 20 degrees Celsius when the Epic Games Launcher is turned on (and persist while running in the background). Nathan Ord does not exclude that this is due to the number of processes occurring in the program – five during testing. The downloader sent data at regular intervals to over 22 different servers.
However, it is not known for sure whether the data collection is causing the processor load and recommends disabling Launcher if you are not actively using it.
There is currently no specific solution to this problem, but you can connect the bootloader to the GOG Galaxy client, which has a function to automatically close the “original” program when the game is turned off.
