Also depends on the resolution you are playing on.
As an aside, you can’t just fill up that 24gb with games at 8k, but with my RTX 2070 Super I would get that 8gb of VRAM so full, with a few games that I play if I would switch to a 4K screen.
On my current 1440p screen, that amount is still sufficient, but there are some people who say that the 10gb VRAM on the RTX 3080 was a “wrong choice” because that card can easily handle 4K gaming, but in certain cases you can adjust the texture settings. down should be adjusted due to insufficient VRAM.
That will not be too bad for most games now but could become a problem in the future, I still remember when we had to replace my partner’s GPU in 2015 because 1gb VRAM started to become an issue in games, while the card itself is different could handle just fine.
But on the other hand, I don’t think the whole “VRAM issue” in games is going to be a big problem yet, still most of the people gamed at 1080p and then 8gb VRAM is more than enough, often even 6gb.
