Game service EA Play has 6.5 million users with a paid subscription. This is evident from quarterly figures (pdf) from publisher EA.
At EA Play, subscribers get access to a library of games that the company has previously released, including FIFA 20, Need for Speed Heat, Battlefield V in Anthem. A subscription costs at least 4 euros per month.
EA has been offering its subscription since 2014, when it was still known as EA Access. PC gamers have recently been able to take out the subscription via the Steam game store.
More and more game companies are starting with subscription services. For example, Microsoft offers Game Pass, which gives customers access to more than a hundred games made by multiple companies.
Collaboration with Game Pass
On November 10, EA Play will be bundled with Game Pass, which will also give Microsoft service subscribers access to all EA games.
The number of subscribers is higher than with Sony, which has more than two million subscribers with PlayStation Now. Game Pass is even bigger with fifteen million paying customers.
