‘Game of Thrones’ star Kit Harington Claims This Emmy-Winning Episode Was the ‘Most Terrifying’ to Film

Kit Harington had to film in some pretty extreme conditions throughout his eight-year run on HBO’s hit fantasy drama Game of Thrones. But there is one scene during his time on Game of Thrones that stands out above the rest. Here’s a look at which scene Harington claims was the “most terrifying” to film.

Harington dishes on keeping secrets on the set of ‘Game of Thrones’

Harington’s character faced plenty of ups and downs over the
eight seasons of Game of Thrones. In season 5 of the fantasy drama, the
Night’s Watch killed Jon in a bid to take over Castle Black at The Wall.

Melisandre (COM)Carice van Houten) brought Jon back to life in season six. Fans suspected that Jon was going to return after his betrayal, and Harington was forced to sneak around the set while filming season 6 to prevent any leaks.

In an interview back in 2017 with the Belfast
Telegraph
, Harington revealed that he was relieved after his
character was raised from the dead because he didn’t have to worry about
keeping any secrets.

“It really, really was a relief to be able to walk around
Belfast and not have to make some excuse about what I’m doing here,”
Harington shared.

Harington added that HBO increased the security around the set.
When a drone flew overhead to catch some of the action, he had to run for cover
and took shelter in a tent.

Who did Harington tell about Jon’s fate?

Speaking of Jon’s resurrection, Harington also revealed exactly
who he told about Jon’s ultimate fate ahead of season 6.

Before the world watched Jon come back to life, Harington told his parents and Rose Leslie, whom he married in 2018. But his family members weren’t the only people who knew Jon was going to come back from the dead.

When Harington was driving home one day a police officer pulled him over for speeding. The cop recognized Harington straight away and told him that he’d let him off if he told him what happens on the show.

Without hesitation, Harington told the police officer exactly
what was going to happen to Jon in season 6.

Harington opens up about which episode was the ‘most terrifying’ to film

Throughout the first seven seasons of Game of Thrones, Harington filmed in a variety of difficult conditions. But the worst scene he ever filmed for the show was actually the Battle of the Bastards.

Harington explained how he actually suffers from claustrophobia and the scene in question
required him to get crushed by a handful of other warriors.

“I’ve got a few fears, spiders being one of them, but the
worst is my claustrophobia – I’m mortally afraid of crowds. I panic,” he
stated. “It was one of the most terrifying things and most uncomfortable –
15 bearded Irishmen crushing you.”

Harington added that the worst moment came when Jon was about to
be engulfed in the crowd of bodies before fighting “his way up to the
top” of the pile. The scene was a pivotal one in the battle, and it’s easy
to see why Harington felt uncomfortable.

Luckily for Harington, the Battle of the Bastards was later in the show’s run and was one of the last big battle scenes he filmed before the series finale in season 8.

What did Harington think about Jon’s journey on ‘Game of Thrones’?

Jon’s journey, of course, came to a controversial end in the final season of Game of Thrones. Although many fans expected big things from Jon in the series finale, he was banished from Westeros after killing Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke), who had just burned down King’s Landing.

Many viewers were unsatisfied with how Jon’s story ended, and Harington admitted in 2017 that he was optimistic about Jon’s future heading into season 7.

“You could see, at the end of season six, he’s thinking,
‘I’m the King of the North and there is a small smile on his face, and I think
that season seven starts with optimism,” Harington shared. “mean, the
world’s f****** ending and he’s in real danger, but at least he’s in a place
where people will listen to him when he’s warning them, and he can get right
down to business.”

Harington then teased that he feels like Jon was in mortal danger after sending Melisandre away. Little did the actor know that it wasn’t Jon’s life he should have been worrying about.

Harington has since revealed that he quickly came to terms with Jon’s fate on the final season of Game of Thrones. As Harington sees it, Jon always belonged in the north and would not have been satisfied ruling Westeros in King’s Landing.
