“Game of Thrones”: stage show planned in New York and London

According to a media report, the successful fantasy series “Game of Thrones” will also come on stage. Like the industry journal “The Hollywood Reporter” reported on Tuesday, inventor George RR Martin is working on a show to be performed on Broadway, London’s West End and Australia from 2023. The producers Simon Painter and Tim Lawson are involved in the piece.

According to the report, the stage show will be a prequel to “Game of Thrones” and will take place 16 years before the events of the HBO series. The focus is on the ten-day »Hallenhal Tournament«. Several series characters are said to appear in the piece. At first it was not known what that might be. There is still no information about a possible occupation either.

“The seeds of war are often planted in peacetime,” author Martin told The Hollywood Reporter. The tournament is often referred to in his books and in the series. “Now we can finally tell the whole story,” said the 72-year-old.

It was recently announced that Martin is said to have signed a contract with HBO for additional TV material.
