The now 24-year-old actress was first seen in the wildly popular series Game of Thrones in 2011. Until the end of the series, she played the boyish girl Arya Stark. During the filming period, Maisie herself grew from a teenager to an adult woman, and that created a complex relationship with her character Arya.
“When I started to become a woman myself, I hated Arya because I couldn’t express myself anymore,” she said in an interview with the American men’s magazine GQ. “I hated my body then because it didn’t fit the image the whole world had of me.”
The actress also has positive memories of the series. She says she doesn’t miss Game of Thrones at all, but is very grateful for her role. “I look back on that time with pride, but I don’t want to feel sad about the best thing that ever happened to me by missing it.”
