The organization of the fair in Monterrey highlights four events in 2025, which include an Under-19 tournament, a gastronomic and film show
Alejandro Hütt, Host City Manager de Monterrey heading to the World Cup 2026announced that in 2025 there will be four events that will be tests for the city on the way to the world competition and among them stands out a second edition of the Game of Legends.
“In 2025 our goal is to have four major events, the second edition of the Supercopa Monterrey Hexagonal Sub-19the second edition of the Game of Legendsthe first edition of the football and gastronomy festival and the first edition of the film festival,” he said in an interview with ESPN.

Regarding Nuevo León’s progress in infrastructure leading up to the 2026 World Cup, Hütt stated that there is a commitment on the part of the State Government and that there is confidence that everything will be ready for the start of the competition.
“There is a commitment from the State Governor, we have had meetings for example with the Ministry of Mobility recently, the city is preparing, obviously there are works in the area of public transport.”
“New metro lines will prepare the city in the months leading up to the start of the World Cup so that both the local community and visitors have better access routes, better and more options to get to the stadium, the Fan Fest and to get around the city. There will be a metro line that connects the city of Monterrey with the rest of the city, something that the city does not have today and this is thanks to the fact that Monterrey is the host city of the World Cup,” he said.
BBVA will be ready by early 2026
Pedro Esquivel, head of the Organizing Committee in Monterrey of the World Cup 2026said that it will be in the second half of 2025 when the improvement works will be carried out. BBVA Stadium requested by FIFA, including the grass so that it is ready in the first months of the year in which the competition will be held.
“Due to the tournament windows, the pitch will take place in the summer of 2025 and the rest of the adjustments towards the end of 2025, beginning of 2026. All the projects we have with the municipal and state authorities have their projects to ensure the connection of the Fundidora Park with the FIFA Fan Fest and the stadium. Some projects that you have already heard about will be in place to ensure that the city and the stadium are ready at the beginning of 2026,” he said.
It should be remembered that the grass at the Rayados stadium had some complications from the beginning to keep it in optimal condition, the Monterrey club made some improvements and even has special lamps to keep it in good condition, but for the world championship they will have to make modifications to the surface, in accordance with what was requested by FIFA.
The head of the Organizing Committee said that by the end of next year they expect the number of visits to the FIFA precisely to fine-tune details regarding improvements to the stadium, which also includes the VIP areas and press box, as well as general issues in Nuevo León.

“They have a plan and they are adjusting it based on the progress they see, the comments we have received about the progress of the stadium and what they have seen in this type of event, which ultimately demonstrates to FIFA our capacity and quality of organization.
“There is no set plan, but what we have been told is that the next one will probably be every four or six months, and probably more frequently towards the end of 2025 or beginning of 2026,” he concluded.
