Long awaited by fans of the genre, Black Myth: The Wukong Sensation finally has a release date.
We’ve been talking about it for months: Black Myth: Wukong, the Chinese action RPG, continues to impress us with its stunning visuals. Recently, the Game Science studio has given us no less than eight minutes of gameplay in 4K Ray Tracing, revealing magnificent scenes developed under Unreal Engine 5. The title is a loose adaptation of Wu Cheng’s emblematic novel En Journey to the West, which narrates the story of Sun Wukong, an immortal monkey who inspired Akira Toriyama to design the story of Goku in Dragon Ball.
While we thought Black Myth: Wukong would be out this year for PC and next-gen consoles, we finally have a slightly later release date to share with you: The Game Science game should be released in the summer of 2024 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series if all goes according to plan. This information slipped at the end of a video released by the studio to celebrate Chinese New Year and usher in the Year of the Rabbit. The clip (available in autoplay in this article), of a humorous nature, is made in stop-motion and presents some bunnies playing Black Myth: Wukong. Now that the announcement has been made, the communication about the title could be accelerated.
A hyper-ambitious title inspired by the great games
We will have to be patient to discover the game, whose project is said to have been on the studio’s cards since its inception, but whose development actually began in 2017. Game Science is an independent Chinese studio born in 2014 and located in Hangzhou, on the south of Shanghai, which previously released Art of War: Red Tides and 100 Heroes for mobile. So it is the first time that it has been put to the test in a title of this magnitude.
The team admits that they drew inspiration for the camera from God of War (2018) (2018) and Asura, an MMORPG developed for Tencent and released in 2013, among others, to design their game. Throughout more than 15 hours, players will encounter more than 100 enemies.as well as unique opponents like bosses. The game will rely on a variety of moves and powers to overcome these critical situations.
It must be taken into account that the game is conceived as the first work of a license, which should be declined in at least three other titles if success is evident.
