However, let’s remember that even his casting created embarrassment at the beginning, so we just have to wait for a change, and only then discuss and evaluate. In any case, the departure of Henry Cavill is not only regretted by the public, as the actor and voice actor Doug Cockle, who for a change took over the voice of Geralt in the games, commented on the decision to end the collaboration with Netflix.
Doug Cockle gave a more than positive review of Cavill’s portrayal of Geralt and his general fondness for the series. “Well, I think he’s really sad,” he said on the Eurogamer podcast, when it came to The Witcher series and the discussion of such a significant change in the cast. “Many people are now speculating why he decided to leave, but whatever the reason, I think it’s sad because Henry did such a great job as Geralt of Rivia,” she praised his acting. a collegue. Recall that the first The Witcher came out in 2007 and is quite a different game from its two sequels. The same goes for the characters and their acting and voice acting. The sound quality would not be sufficient, most likely even assuming the developers had a backup of the original recording data. This would lead to a split between image and sound, which is certainly not desirable. Moreover, it can be assumed that the writers will take the original game for granted and here and there will add something, rewrite or change some strange-sounding lines.
Also, in the English original, several voices (such as Triss and Marigold) were changed between the first and second games, which may confuse players who haven’t played the first Witcher. And Cockle himself would then have the opportunity to push his performance even further in case of a new recording. And as an interesting point, we add that he himself almost did not return to the role of Geralt in The Witcher 2. As he himself noted, CD Projekt decided to “start with a clean slate” for the second part, so he had to choose to new Geralt.
We can only speculate for now due to the minimal amount of information and the stage the remake’s development is at, but it’s hard to imagine the makers of CD Projekt deciding to look for a new voice for Geralt.
