Game Freak Hacked: Major Pokémon Secrets Leaked, Including Next-Gen Project ‘Gaia’ and More!

(PressFire.no): Game Freak, developers of, among other things, the “Pokémon” series, has been hacked – and a one-terabyte collection of documents and other files has been released online.

The leak contains information about projects within the studio that have yet to be released, as well as the source code of several older games and the email information of employees and partners.

Among other things, the source code for “Pokémon Heart Gold / Soul Silver” and “Pokémon Black / White 2” was released.

Game Freak has confirmed the hack.

The documents refer to the main game “Pokémon” next generation with the name of the project “Gaia”, ie generation ten (and not the already mentioned “Pokémon ZA”)and is being developed into the Switch 2 – called “Ounce”.

This confirms earlier rumors about the same project name for Nintendo’s next console. The Switch was known as “NX” prior to launch, and the Wii U was known internally as “Project Café”.

A secret project called “Codename: Synapse” was also leaked.

It is not known if this is a project under active development or has been shelved, but it will reportedly be a multiplayer game produced in collaboration with ILCA (“One Piece Odyssey “, “Sand Land”), and which would be reported. “Splatoon” – like.

Other parts of the leak include summaries of meetings between The Pokémon Company, Game Freak and other partners – including meetings dealing with the end of Ash’s journey in the “Pokémon” comics – and concept sketches, music and other beta content.

There is also a mention of one live action TV series on Netflix as published by Variety three years ago – this was supposed to be released this year.

In addition, there is information about a new animated film called “Bauer” which was supposed to be a kind of reboot, a sequel to “Detective Pikachu” and a new anime series called “Reload ”, which will run over twelve episodes.

These three projects were originally supposed to be released in 2023, but it’s clear that they’ve ended up in some kind of limbo.

In a statement apologize Game Freak that information about partners and employees has gone astray. They say more than 2,600 email addresses and names must be involved.

The leaked information was taken from their servers in August this year.

– We have already restructured and checked the configuration of the server, but we will continue to strengthen our security to stop such incidents in the future, writes the company.
