In France, a young woman who plays only 3 or 4 times a year, “only during big jackpots and exceptional events”, saw an advertisement announcing a jackpot of 16 million euros for the Super Loto draw on Friday 13 January. She decides to try her luck and, on her online account of the Française des jeux (FDJ), she plays her lucky numbers and validates her grid.
The next day, she receives an email from the FDJ announcing that she has won a EuroMillions prize, without however specifying the amount. “At the time, I thought of a mistake, I played for the Loto,” she told the site Winning Draw. Convinced that the FDJ has made a mistake, she logs into her account to find out for sure. She then realizes that she has won 1 million euros thanks to her My Million code, after betting on a EuroMillions grid instead of playing the Loto draw.
“Unbelievable, I still don’t realize I became a millionaire because of my mistake!” she said not without emotion. A ski fan, she thinks of using her winnings to “buy a foothold in the mountains”.
