Gambir will retire from serving long-distance routes, become a KRL station?

Jakarta

Manggarai Station will be the central station in Jakarta. This means that it serves long-distance trains as well as the Jabodetabek KRL.

On the other hand, as Manggarai will become the central station, Gambir Station will stop serving long-distance trains.

After Gambir Station stops serving long-distance trains, there is an option for the station to be used as a ride on the Jabodetabek KRL.

“Until now, the design of the Manggarai Station with the existing facilities has indeed designed a long-distance train. It stops only at Manggarai Station. So Gambir will later be used to get on and off KRL passengers,” said Head of the Jakarta and Banten Regional Railway Engineering Center, Rode Paulus in a press conference at the Ministry of Transportation Office, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (25/5/2022).

According to Rode, development at Manggarai Station continues. From the existing design, the station will indeed function to serve long-distance trains.

In addition, Rode added, so far they are still discussing with PT KAI about the plan to make Gambir a station for KRL. Including the validity period.

“If there is a change to optimize it, we are still discussing it with PT KAI,” said Rode.

So far, the construction of the east side of Manggarai Station itself has begun. The plan is that Manggarai Station can serve long-distance trains in 2025.
