Gambir police chief trampled on by riotous demonstration at the horse statue

Student demo from BEM on Muhammadiyah campuses, which demanded that Jokowi’s ministers be evaluated, ended in chaos. A number of officers, including Gambir Police Chief Commissioner Rango Siregarwas stepped on when the masses were involved in pushing and shoving the officers.

Setyo said that one of the officers who was stepped on during the rioting was Gambir Police Chief Commissioner Rango Siregar. He said that his party was still collecting data regarding the details of the number of injured members.

“While we are still collecting data, what is clear is that the Gambir Police Chief was trampled and one member of the Regional Police and there are others, we are still investigating,” he said.

He said there were 26 people who were secured and taken to the Polda Metro Jaya. They consist of students, including action coordinators and non-student masses.

“We have secured the korlap and the mob that we found there were 26 non-student masses, we secured for us to take their statements,” he said.

Contacted separately, the Head of Public Relations of the Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Zulpan also confirmed the incident.

“Yes, there was a beating at the Gambir Sector Police Chief, yes, the hand and foot were (injured), now they are in the hospital,” said Zulpan.
