In November, coal supplies to thermal power plants will increase, primarily due to their own production.
Ukrainian companies increase coal imports in November, and supplies to thermal power plants from domestic mines will also increase. Energy Minister German Galushchenko told how the situation with coal is being resolved in the course of an hour of questions to the government in the Verkhovna Rada.
“In November, 1.5 million tons of domestic coal is expected, and at the same time, the share of imports will grow due to the diversification of supply sources. Ukrainian companies have already signed contracts for the supply of coal from Poland, the USA, and South Africa,” he said.
According to him, the cost of imported coal reaches $ 300 per ton.
The head of the Ministry of Energy also said that in October, the thermal power plants received 1.3 million tons of Ukrainian coal, or 85% of the total supply. Imports amounted to 260 thousand tons, 36 thousand of which accounted for state generation.
The minister also announced restricting the transit of coal from Kazakhstan to Ukraine via Russia.
Galushchenko sees the solution to the problem with coal supplies in the rapid increase in its own production. “If there are such opportunities and there is an opportunity to invest in domestic coal, this is the key priority,” he said.
Recall last week Russia has stopped supplying Ukraine with thermal coal… There it was explained by the fact that in the autumn-winter period the demand inside the country is growing.
