Galicians in restricted councils may move to others from their perimeter closure

The Galician government today advanced the new restrictions that will go into effect in the community from Friday. These will affect 60% of the population and 60 municipalities throughout the territory, including the seven Galician cities and their area of influence.

Again, the affected people are wondering at this time how far the limits go to be able to leave their council or the exceptions handled by Sanidade to do so without exposing themselves to a large fine. Alberto Núñez Feijóo settled this morning one of the main issues: Can I move to another town with perimeter closure if mine is also restricted?

The answer is affirmative as long as it is a municipality within your same perimeter. For example, residents of A Coruña may travel to Oleiros or Cambre without justification, in the same way that those from Santiago may go to Ames or those from Vigo may go to Nigrán. Also between restricted nuclei with other bordering councils in the same situation, such as Silleda and Lalín. However, It will not be possible to travel from A Coruña to Santiago or Vimianzo, as you have to cross towns not affected by the restrictions or having to change the perimeter.

There are perimeters that are glued to each other, such as Vigo and Pontevedra, but it is not possible to cross from Soutomaior to Redondela.

It is expected that the Galician government will detail in the DOG all the details of these restrictions that will last for a month and are aimed at rapid data improvement. Feijóo stressed that they have opted for “tough measures” for a “short time” instead of “light measures for a long time.”

These are the areas with perimeter confinement, within which it is possible to change the municipality:

  • A coruña: A Coruña, Arteixo, Culleredo, Cambre and Oleiros.
  • Santiago: Santiago, Ames, Boqueixón, Oroso, O Pino, Teo, Trazo, Val do Dubra y Vedra
