Galician President Promises Coverage of First Pet Health Expenses if Reelected

The president of the Xunta and PPdeG candidate for re-election, Alfonso Rueda, has promised that, if he continues to lead the Galician Government after February 18, his Executive plans to cover the first health expenses of whoever decides to “adopt” a pet. Specifically, in the words of the popular leader, the microchip and the first vaccine will be covered.

In a visit to a veterinary clinic in Ponteareas (Pontevedra), in which he was accompanied by the Minister of the Environment, Ángeles Vázquez, the provincial president of the PP, Luis López, and the mayor, Nava Castro, Rueda has also advanced his intention to launch a regional animal shelter.

Likewise, the popular ones include among their future measures the promotion of dog parks in municipalities with more than 20,000 inhabitants, which would be added to those already committed in the seven large cities of Galicia.

Rueda, who has visited the animal care establishment and had the opportunity to pet several dogs, such as Mylo – a medium ash gray poodle who had just had his hair cut -, highlighted that “the desire to have animals in the best conditions, serve them and take care of them” has “more and more presence in Galicia”. “And I think he speaks well of the Galicians,” she added.

“We are talking about 700,000 or 800,000 having registered a pet, dogs and cats mainly. This means that a very important part of Galicians like animals, we like to take care of them and, therefore, it is also the responsibility of the administration to do so. everything possible to lend a hand so that everything is fine,” he argued.
