Galicia will get rid of the heat wave that Spain will suffer this week with up to 40 degrees

Galicia it will be a kind of oasis this week in which at the national level a large majority of communities will suffer a heat wave with temperatures reaching 40 degrees in the middle of May. This is confirmed by the meteorologist of Televisión Española (TVE), Andres Gomez, in their social networks with an attached map of the heat that awaits in the peninsula.

The temperatures will experience a rise this Monday during the day in Spain, except in the peninsular northeast, the Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands, where they will remain with few changes, while at night, they will rise in the extreme southeast of the peninsula, and will descend in much of the rest of the territory. According to the prediction of State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) for this May 16, there will be 14 provinces that reach or exceed 30 degrees maximum.

Albacete, Badajoz, Bilbao, Girona, Huesca, Jaén, Logroño and Teruel will reach 30º C, while Seville will have maximums of 31º C, Córdoba and Granada of 32º C and Lleida and Zaragoza of 33º C. Murcia will be the hottest province in Spain this Monday, reaching the 35º C. In contrast, in Galicia on this day the maximum will be marked by Ourense with 26 degrees, followed by Lugo with 24 and A Coruña, Pontevedra, Ferrol and Vigo with 23.

Santiago will register the lowest maximum with 20 degrees, 10 minus than those expected in some Spanish communities such as Castilla y León with provinces with 33 degrees, Madrid with 38 and some Andalusian provinces with 41. Likewise, this situation is due to the approach of an Atlantic frontal system to Galicia, with rains that will be more intense in the western half, especially tomorrow, May 17, Galician Letters Day.

In this context, the meteorologist has warned that the “thermal relief” this Sunday “has been a mirage” and has warned of the high temperatures in most of Spain (except Galicia) during this week while encouraging “save the sayo”, with humor and in honor of the saying.
