Galicia hosts dozens of online and face-to-face activities to commemorate ‘Museum Day’

The Xunta focuses on the digital transformation of Galician museums

SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA, 15 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Galicia is preparing to celebrate ‘Museum Day’ with dozens of proposals. Specifically, the Xunta projects about 30 activities, in person and online, in the museum centers managed by the Department of Culture, Education and University, which include guided visits, workshops, music and theaters.

The commemorations of the International Museum Day will have as a central act the institutional day of May 18 presided over by the Minister of Culture, Education and University, Román Rodríguez, from the Center for Contemporary Art of Galicia (CGAC), with the participation of the responsible for the museums of the Xunta.

The program of activities is concentrated in the main Galician cities: A Coruña, Santiago de Compostela, Ourense, Pontevedra and Lugo, respectively.

The Museum of Belas Artes de A Coruña offers this Saturday, May 15, guided tours at 12.00, 18.00 and 20.00, as well as family workshops and the Paul Álvarez Project concert, a musical proposal that fuses flamenco and jazz, which can also be followed online.

Guided tours of the collection will be repeated on Tuesday at the same time, but the last will be at 7:00 p.m. instead of 8:00 p.m.

The Audioguías Emocionais project, carried out with the IES Menéndez Pidal, will also be presented on Tuesday, May 18, in which the participating students will talk about the sensations transmitted by the chosen works.

Finally, on May 22, the theatrical show ‘Manuela é unha inuit’, by Sr. López Produccións, will be performed.

On the other hand, Compostela organizes this Saturday, May 15, an illustration workshop in the arcades of the Museo das Peregrinacións, with the illustrator and graphic humorist Xosé Tomás.

The celebration continues on Sunday May 16 with the concert ‘Cores, contos e rock’roll’ with Ramona Órbita, aimed at children.

On Tuesday May 18 there will be another Abraham Cupeiro concert at the museum. The CGAC will develop two sessions of the deep Escoita online workshop on the 18th and 19th, and from the 20th to the 22nd there will be a cycle of projections open to the public about Paulino Oliveros, as well as an archaeological route through Santiago, starting from the CGAC, on the day 22.

On Sunday 23rd, people will be able to enjoy a guided tour of the centre’s facilities at 12:00 noon.

In the Cidade da Cultura, the Museo Centro Gaiás will bet on online programming. From 10.00 to 14.00, an online visit program for schools will be developed.

At 5:00 p.m., a visit will also take place through the network, to the Pharaoh exhibition for all interested public.

The Museum Day program at Gaiás also includes the premiere in Compostela of Formas de la Appearance, an audiovisual piece by the artist Verónica Vicente.

OTHER PROPOSALS

For its part, the Provincial Archaeological Museum of Ourense will offer this Tuesday 18 the performance of Quico Cadaval, ‘A memoria reimaxinada’, at the Liceo de Ourense, which can also be followed via the Internet.

In addition, workshops will be organized for the younger audience and a didactic activity for primary school children.

Until June 13, a video with images of the center at different times and a recreation of the future state of the museum after finishing the works started there will be projected on the museum building in the Plaza Mayor.

The Ethnological Museum of Ribadavia offers this Saturday, May 15, a folk music concert by Antonio Luis Pedraza.

Next Friday the 28th, a collaboration between the museum center and the CIFP Portovello de Ourense will be presented, through the Open Museum Project 2021.

At the Museo do Viño de Galicia, small videos of collectors of different denominations of origin on the production of wines will be broadcast from Tuesday, May 18.

The Museo do Mar de Vigo organizes an open house this Tuesday, May 18, and the Massó Museum, in Bueu, will have free guided tours every Saturday in May from 12.30 p.m. to 2.30 p.m., as well as workshops. online.

On the other hand, the Castro de Viladonga de Lugo Museum will offer an online concert by Germán Díaz and an audiovisual selection of the event ‘Noites dos museums’ from 2015.
