Galicia delays the start of the new restrictions to midnight from Friday to Saturday

The new restrictions in cities and more than 50 municipalities to cope with the spread of the coronavirus will finally come into force at midnight from Friday to Saturday, as stated in the order of the Department of Health published at the edge of midnight this Thursday in the Official Gazette of Galicia (DOG).

Despite the fact that the president of the Xunta, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, had said at a press conference this Wednesday that the new restrictions, including the closure of bars and restaurants and new perimeter confinements, would come into effect at 3:00 p.m. this Friday, the DOG order delays its effectiveness for nine hours, until midnight from Friday to Saturday, except in the O Carballiño municipality of Ourense, where they started at midnight on Thursday 5.

The order also specifies that the effectiveness of the measures It will run until 3:00 p.m. on December 4, just before the Constitution bridge. In any case, it explicitly states that these “will be subject to continuous monitoring and evaluation”, with which “they may be modified or lifted earlier.

The most prominent new restrictions are the closure of activities considered non-essential, including catering establishments, except for home delivery services or for collection at the premises. In the case of health center catering establishments or for company workers, they may only maintain the cafeteria, bar and restaurant service and may not exceed 50% of their capacity.

The areas that will be under a perimeter fence they are: A Coruña, together with Arteixo, Culleredo, Cambre and Oleiros; the city council of Lugo alone; Santiago with Ames, Boqueixón, Oroso, O Pino, Teo, Trazo, Val do Dubra and Vedra; Ferrol, with Ares, Fene, Neda, Narón and Mugardos; Ourense, with Amoeiro, Barbadás, Coles, O Pereiro de Aguiar, San Cibrao and Toén; Pontevedra, with Vilaboa, Ponte Caldelas, Poio, Marín, Barro, Campo Lameiro, Cerdedo-Cotobade and Soutomaior; and Vigo with Mos, Nigrán, Gondomar, O Porriño and Redondela.

As well Municipalities with a 14-day accumulated rate of more than 200 cases per 100,000 inhabitants will have the same restrictions, and upward trend in the notification of the same: Vimianzo, Monforte, Burela, Viveiro, O Carballiño, Verín, Xinzo, Cangas, A Estrada, Lalín, Silleda, Ponteareas, Tui, Cambados, O Grove, Vilanova de Arousa and Vilagarcía de Arousa.
