Galicia: 300 patients have passed through the elderly care center with Covid-19 since its opening in October | Radio Coruña | Today for Today A Coruña

The Galician Center for Integral Development (Cegadi) located in Santiago de Compostela since last October, patients with covid-19 who come from nursing homes have been admitted and for people with disabilities from all over Galicia.

A fundamental task of this center has been to learn more and more about a virus that has especially affected nursing homes. From there, the intervention of the residences by the Xunta has been coordinated, as well as the study of patients who were referred to hospitals or to this center itself. Its director, Constantino Piñeiro, assures that there is no single model of residence: “The reality is that there is no residential model as such that serves as a pattern for all the realities that we have experienced, there are residences of a very diverse nature and each one has its own capabilities because it is also designed to serve other types of resident”.

With the maximum occupancy of the center, in mid-January, lit bequeathed to house 60 patients. Since the opening, nearly 300 patients have passed through CEGADI.
