Galaxy Z Fold 3 Launched June 2021, Galaxy Note Discontinuous

Samsung will kick off next year by launching the Galaxy S21 series in the first quarter. Recent reports claim that the South Korean electronics giant is said to no longer launch the Galaxy Note series next year.

This is why the Galaxy S21 Ultra will come with S Pen stylus support. An equally interesting report disseminated by Aju News, a publication in South Korea, states that Samsung has confirmed that it will launch the Galaxy Z Fold 3 in June 2021.

The report also claims that Samsung will discontinue the Galaxy Note series. It is emphasized that Samsung has now begun to develop the final sample of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 to be ready for mass production. This “super premium” smartphone is expected to come with the latest technology, such as the S Pen and an under-screen camera.

The Galaxy Z Fold 3 will have a special compartment to accommodate the S Pen. Previous reports have revealed that the Galaxy S21 Ultra will not have an S Pen compartment, but will bring support for it.

Since S Pen support will be available on the Galaxy Z Fold 3 as well as the Galaxy S21 Ultra, not a few gadget observers have speculated that Samsung will discontinue the Note series. The report also says that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is expected to officially launch in the last week of June.

Although Samsung managed to install a digitizer in the display to recognize the S Pen, it was difficult to develop a tempered glass that prevents the screen from scratching when using the S Pen. Therefore, the Galaxy Fold and Galaxy Z Fold 2 do not come with S Pen support.

In an effort to enable S Pen support, Samsung replaced CPI film with Ultra-Thin Glass (UTC) on the Z Fold 2. Since the first generation UTC could not provide S Pen support, Samsung Display in collaboration with Dowoo Insys will develop a second generation UTC enabling support S Pen on the Z Fold 3.

Recent reports reveal that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will offer a full screen experience as it will include a camera under the screen. However, if this feature causes a decrease in screen quality or photos to be of less quality, Samsung could exclude this feature from the Galaxy Z Fold 3.
