Galaxy S25 Ultra Leaked! Huawei Mate 70 Series Launches – Week 48 Tech Roundup

Tech Giants Unveiled Phone Innovations This Week

The week was a whirlwind of exciting announcements, revealing glimpses of the future of mobile technology. Leading the charge was Samsung, offering a sneak peek at its upcoming Galaxy S25 Ultra. Leaked images showcased a softer design, ditching the sharp edges of its predecessor for a more streamlined aesthetic. The display, too, anticipates rounded corners, while the back retains a familiar quad-camera arrangement.

Adding fuel to the excitement, the leaks also provided glimpses into One UI 7.0, Samsung’s next-generation software interface. Redesigned icons, a more user-friendly control center, and optimized camera UI promise a fresh, engaging experience.

“It also appeared on Geekbench with the Snapdragon 8 Elite.”

Meanwhile, rumor has it that the latest member of the flagship Galaxy S family may come equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, suggesting even more impressive performance capabilities.

Huawei’s big launch event brought with it a whole new portfolio: the Mate 70 series. The lineup boasts four offerings – the Mate 70, Mate 70 Pro, Mate 70 Pro+, and the luxurious Mate 70 RS Ultimate. All four phones feature vibrant LTPO OLED displays with FHD+ resolution and adaptable 1-120Hz refresh rates, delivering smooth scrolling and sharp visuals. The RS Ultimate goes a step further, sporting a dual-layer OLED panel capable of achieving a staggering 3,500 nits peak brightness.

Despite maintaining sleek designs, the new Mate phones pack powerful photography capabilities. All four share a 50MP RYYB main sensor with a versatile variable f/1.4-f/4.0 aperture lens and complement this with a 40MP ultrawide module. The Pro models and the RS Ultimate further enhance their imaging prowess with 48MP periscope telephoto lenses offering 3.5x zoom, while the vanilla model includes a 12MP periscope capable of 5x zoom.

Huawei is introducing its new "Red Maple spectral imaging sensor" across the lineup, promising significantly enhanced color accuracy, natural skin tones, and improved shadow detail.

“Both phones feature Huawei’s new Red Maple spectral imaging sensor and variable apertures on the main 50MP cameras,”

Huawei remains tight-lipped about the specific chipsets powering the new devices, but speculation suggests that the Mate 70 utilizes the Kirin 9010, while the Pros and RS Ultimate may boast the all-new Kirin 9020.

The Mate 70 series comes with varying price points: the Mate 70 starts at CNY 5,499 ($757), the Mate 70 Pro+ at CNY 6,499 ($895), the Mate 70 Pro+ at CNY 8,499 ($1,173), and the luxurious Mate 70 RS Ultimate at CNY 11,999 ($1,656).

Xiaomi threw its hat into the ring with its Redmi K80 series. This new series comprises the Redmi K80 and the Redmi K80 Pro, both sporting vibrant 6.67 inch OLED displays with QHD+ resolution and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. While the standard K80 model is powered by last year’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, the Pro model is rumored to be equipped with the cutting-edge Snapdragon 8 Elite.

"An overall upgrade in terms of performance and endurance compared to the K70 Pro from last year. And there is a Lamborghini special edition."

Both K80 devices feature a powerful 50MP OmniVision OVX8000 main camera. The Pro model takes it a step further with a dedicated 50MP telephoto lens and a 32MP ultrawide module, enabling even more versatility for photographers.

“The phone also has an IP68 rating and an ultrasonic fingerprint reader under the beautiful 6.67" 12-bit display, but is one camera short compared to the K80 Pro.”

Both new Redmi K80s pack large silicon carbon batteries and come preloaded with the latest HyperOS 2 based on Android 15, promising a fast and fluid user experience.

The K80 series hits the market at appealing price points. The Redmi K80 is priced at CNY 2,500 (around $345), while the Redmi K80 Pro will retail for CNY 3,700 (roughly $510). For those seeking ultimate exclusivity, Xiaomi offers a Lamborghini Squadra Corse special edition of the K80 Pro, available for CNY 4,999 ($690).
