Last week, Ice Universe told us that the Galaxy S24 Ultra will get at least a new 50Mpx telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, and today it brings us closer to its features. Although it won’t be the biggest sensor we’ve seen with a telephoto lens in flagships, it will still be more modern, and thanks to Samsung’s amazing software, we can expect a great 5x zoom.
It looks like famous leaker Ice Universe has indeed hit a goldmine once again. For the past two weeks, he has been providing us with some news about the Galaxy S24 series phones almost every day, and today is no different. Specifically, the leaker specifies the new 50MP telephoto lens, which he mentioned last week.
In the end, it won’t be a sensor as large as the OPPO Find X6 Pro, for example. We should get a 50Mpx sensor with a size of 1/2.52” with 0.7µm pixels, which is definitely not an extra value. But it will still be a nice improvement over the old 10Mpx sensor that is used now. Thanks to the new 3x telephoto lens, we can expect a much better 5x digital zoom.
This very fact confused a lot of leakers who previously wrote about the new 5x telephoto lens. Samsung will apparently be promoting the high-quality 5x zoom a lot in marketing, but it will come from a 3x telephoto lens. And since Samsung is already able to get miracles out of the existing 10Mpx sensor with its software, I am very curious to see what it can do with a more modern sensor. In the end, the leaker also briefly mentioned that the S24 Ultra will also finally get a display upgrade, but again he didn’t tell us more. We will probably have to wait a few more days for the details.
