Galaxy S23 FE February Update: Security Patch Installed, ‘Burn-in Bug’ Still Unresolved

The first Samsung phone to receive the February update is… the Galaxy S23 FE. The device receives the latest security patch, but also confirms that the ‘burn-in bug’ has not yet been fixed.

Galaxy S23 FE update februari 2024

Yesterday we delved into the contents of Samsung’s February update – what it does, who gets it, that sort of thing. But we could not yet report any devices that had actually already received it. Fortunately, that is changing today.

An update of just under 250 MB is ready today on the Galaxy S23 FE. Firmware version S711BXXS2BXAB does what you expect: the February patch is installed. This seals a leak in the Game Optimization Servicein Auto Hotspot, Smart suggestionsand some less accessible parts of One UI 6.

What the update does not do – we checked – is solve the ‘burn-in bug’. We now know – thanks to the Galaxy S24 – that this is no longer included in One UI 6.1. But the hope that a solution will also come to One UI 6.0 is now dwindling rapidly. After the December and January updates didn’t solve the problem, the February patch doesn’t fix it either. We are waiting for the bigger upgrade to One UI 6.1.

Availability

You can download the February update right now on the unbranded Galaxy S23 FE in the Netherlands, Belgium and the rest of Europe. If you don’t want to wait until you automatically see a notification, you can also check availability manually. You do this via Settings -> Software update -> Download and install.

Have you received the update on your Galaxy S23 FE? Have you come across any more changes, improvements or bugs? Or are you considering purchasing the device? Then check out the best deals now that the Galaxy S23 FE has been reduced in price (and comes with a free Watch)!
