Chicago (USA), May 13 (EFE).- The Los Angeles Galaxy of Mexican Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernández will meet this Saturday with the Dallas of Spanish coach Nico Estévez, in a clash between two teams that share third place in the Western Conference; and in an eleventh day of the MLS in which the Mexican Jairo Torres will have his debut with the Chicago Fire at Soldier Field.
Following a momentous 1-0 win against Austin, the Galaxy are just one point behind second-placed Texans and four behind leading rivals Los Angeles FC.
The clash with Dallas, who have gone nine league games without losing, represents another key moment in the Galaxy’s season, in which ‘Chicharito’ has scored five goals.
Both teams come to the duel after playing the US Open Cup during the week, with different results. The Galaxy eliminated California United 3-2, while Dallas fell in extra time against Sporting Kansas City, after receiving the equalizer in the last breath of regulation time.
On paper, the day favors Mexican Carlos Vela’s LAFC, who visits the field of a Colorado Rapids in crisis, who only won one of their last eight games.
Vela, who has four goals and three assists in this brilliant start to the season, leads a LAFC that only lost one game in ten games. Of course, the only defeat came in the important derby against the Galaxy.
This very Saturday will most likely be the day of Mexican Jairo Torres’ debut with the Chicago Fire. Ezra Hendrickson’s team made a significant investment to sign one of the young wingers with the most potential in Mexican soccer and is preparing a warm welcome for him at Soldier Field.
His arrival has filled the Fire with enthusiasm at a difficult moment in terms of results, with a streak of three consecutive losses and a drought of victories that has lasted since March 19.
Hendrickson, who did not make him debut last week in the 1-4 defeat against Atlanta United, should line him up in the clash with Cincinnati, in which victory is the only option to try to move away from the last place in the East.
Argentina’s Gonzalo Higuain’s Inter Miami shares that last position with the Fire and will host DC United in an attempt to snap a two-game losing streak.
Gonzalo Higuaín will seek to improve his goalscoring record, so far of only two goals, and points to the starting eleven along with Ecuadorian Leonardo Campana, who shone with five goals.
Among the other matches, the duel between the Philadelphia Union and the New York Red Bulls stands out, which measures the first against the second in the Eastern Conference table, respectively.
