For YB, Tuesday evening’s match against Galatasaray is about reaching the Champions League group stage – and a lot of money.
If the Bernese can hold on to their 3-2 lead from the first leg, millions will be in the offing. However, the task in the cauldron of Istanbul will not be easy.
Will YB make it into the Champions League against Galatasaray?
Galatasaray coach Okan Buruk is combative at the press conference. “We would have liked to have gone into the second leg with a better result. But as you know, Galatasaray’s goal is to win every game.”
Of course, the focus for the game against YB is “very high”. “For my players and our fans and me, it is very important to be in the Champions League. We experienced that last year and enjoyed it very much,” said Buruk.

In the first leg, his team did not do a good job defensively, says the coach, adding: “We have to defend very well tomorrow.”
Galatasaray will be able to count on the support of over 50,000 frenetic fans on Tuesday. Buruk: “We can hardly wait for the atmosphere in the stadium.”
“We will not compromise”
The coach does not want to reveal much about the line-up yet. Buruk has left it open whether double goalscorer Michy Batshuayi will play from the start.

He expects his team to be dominant against YB. “We will not make any compromises in our game,” the coach assures.
Despite the one-goal deficit, Buruk is confident ahead of the important return match: “I am convinced that we will achieve great things this year, both in Europe and in Turkey.”
The game starts in Istanbul at 9 p.m. Swiss time.
