Gaëlle Mignot: A Tireless Champion Recognized with Honor

Champions are often recognized by their track record, but some stand out through their commitment. Gaëlle Mignot is the perfect example. If his trophy cabinet is already well filled, our former captain has indeed received from the hands of President Mohed Altrad, during the traditional Garden Party at the end of the season, a new singular and highly prestigious distinction: the medal of Knight of the National Order of Merit.

If we had to sum it up with a single qualifier, “Tireless” would probably be the most appropriate. Originally from Périgueux, Gaëlle Mignot made her first tackles at SA Trelissac then moved to Corrèze before settling in Montpellier, which would become her second home. The one then nicknamed “Truffle” hardens under the colors of the MRC Féminin. Leader by example, she won with the “Cocc’s” the national title 5 times. Her taste for effort and her rigor will naturally lead her to the French team. Very quickly, she will become the emblematic captain, will wear the jersey struck by the Rooster 70 times and will bring her professionalism to a women’s rugby in full mutation.

Twice nominated by World Rugby for the title of best player in the world in 2015 and 2016, she moved to Richmond, England for a season. Really hyperactive, she returned to Hérault in 2020 and began her retraining within the staff of the MHR training center. She finally hangs up her crampons in 2021 and becomes the first “coach” to officiate with a Espoirs team in France.

A rise that never ends, since last May she was appointed assistant coach of the France Women’s team which she supervised during the world championship in New Zealand where Les Bleues obtained third place.

But his commitment, the “Migne” also exports it off the field. An employee of the MHR endowment fund for nearly a decade, Gaëlle has actively worked on the development of the “rugby-health” section: an adapted activity, without contact, which uses the oval as an effective therapeutic tool on the way to cancer remission. A life spent in the service of rugby and solidarity, justly rewarded at the national level.

It is therefore with great pride that the whole of Montpellier Hérault Rugby congratulates Gaëlle for this oh so deserved decoration. From the height of her meter fifty-six, she is definitely what is called a “great lady”!
