What are the special features of the training that the Africa up Horizon program offers?
Africa Up Horizon is a training and awareness raising, technical and professional support program for young people towards stable and sustainable jobs. The program aims to provide young people with the necessary skills in 90 days to succeed in digital professions, especially through specific training in the areas of Sales Marketing, Digital Marketing, Photography, Videography, Graphic Design and Video Editing. Over 90 days, practical workshops in the field are given by professionals and experts from different training sectors, thus giving them a solid foundation to deal with various issues related to business communication, promoting their products and the their services, etc. This program is part of a wider initiative aimed at empowering young people, strengthening the capabilities of young entrepreneurs, reducing unemployment and poverty, and reducing the rate of business closures.
Do participants benefit from support throughout the journey?
There are ! Participants will benefit from support during and even after the training. During the training, the program offers them all the useful keys so that they are independent and able to start their business. The exercises are practical simulations of business creation, and workshops to design different communication and marketing aids for their products or services. Other workshops will focus on the use of tools related to artificial intelligence and the maximum use of smartphones. After the training, thanks to our 385 partner companies in Cameroon and Central Africa, students are integrated for internships that allow them to better understand their training and, subsequently, to be recruitment This year, we were able to integrate 10 young scholarship students from the Africa Up Horizon program into companies in neighboring countries (Ghana, Togo, Ivory Coast). In terms of funding, the top 5 in the class who have properly established their projects benefit from financial support amounting to 35% of the actual cost of implementing their project.
How does the Africa up Horizon program contribute to reducing youth unemployment in Cameroon?
The program contributes to reducing the youth unemployment rate thanks to the specific skills it distributes to them in the digital fields, giving them practical knowledge that they can implement in companies ( VSE, SMEs, GE) of their area, district and even their town. Of course, they are not obligated to work for a corporate company, but they hold the keys to selling or promoting any type of product or service. Currently, most of the students who benefit from these scholarships receive an average of 5,000 FCFA per day thanks to the means provided digitally.
