Thanks to his victory in the semi-finals of the ATP 250 in Stockholm against Laslo Djere, Gaël Monfils, 37, now has the second longest series of seasons with at least one final on the circuit, as highlighted Game, Set and Math on Twitter.
He thus equals two legends in the field, Rafael Nadal and Jimmy Connors. Roger Federer is only a short length away.
“Well, I imagine that they have surely won a tournament every year, and not just made the final, which is not my case (he is right for Federer and Nadal), but still (laughs)! Nineteen isn’t easy, is it? (…) It proves that even with all the injuries I had, I managed to have this longevity. The word that comes to me is consistency, so that’s cool”reacted the Frenchman in comments reported by The team.
