MEXICO CITY (AP) — Gael García Bernal and Diego Luna are united again on screen thanks to the series “La Maquina.”
The Mexican actors play a boxer (García Bernal) and his manager (Luna). They paraded on a red carpet on Tuesday night with their cast mates Lucía Méndez, Jorge Perugorría, Andrés Delgado, Karina Gidi, Dariam Coco, Raúl Briones, Marco Ramírez and director Gabriel Ripstein.

García Bernal and Luna are also executive producers of the six-episode series, currently available on Disney+. It is the first project in which they appear together on screen in 16 years.
Esteban alias “The Machine”, the Mexican boxer played by García Bernal, has years of experience. His manager Andy Luján is obsessed with surgeries. Both are threatened by criminals who want to force Esteban to lose an important fight.
Friends since childhood, García Bernal and Luna have shared credits in “Y tu madre also”, “Chicuarotes”, “Rudo y Cursi” and “Casa de mi padre”. They are also founders of the Ambulante documentary tour.
