China’s GAC Motor has demonstrated the Vanlife concept – a vehicle endowed with futuristic shapes with extensive interior transformation possibilities.
GAC Vanlife has been created in the company’s Milan design studio under the direction of former Renault and Infiniti specialist Stefan Janin. The result is an aggressive-looking minivan that, thanks to its large wheels of unusual design, high ground clearance and semi-enclosed body with retractable side modules, would be more suited to a lunar landscape. To some extent, it is, as the Vanlife is a self-driving vehicle with only two seats and a rear section of the cabin designed for travelers to rest and sleep.
Recycled plastic, aluminum and various types of fibers are known to be used in the interior, but the boxes on the sides of the car are actually transformable modules that can be turned into backlit tables and provide additional storage, while the shelf under the slanted windshield can be used for heating water or generating energy from solar panels.
The manufacturer does not provide technical information about Vanlife, as the main task of the concept is to demonstrate the flight of thought and capabilities of the designers.
