Gabriele Cirilli: «Social media and chats? I can’t “hold them anymore””

The comedian from Abruzzo, father of one of the most famous catchphrases such as “Who is Tatiana?”returns to the theater with “I can’t hold you anymore”a “patchwork of comedy” created together with four other authors, directed Walter Lupo and production Ma Ga Mat, which will be staged tomorrow, at 8.45 pm, at the “Teatro San Francesco” in Scafatiand on Saturday at the “Supercinema” Theater in Castellammare di Stabia.

How did the idea for the show come about?

Watching the Rai Techetechetè program, there was Rino Gaetano singing Riccardo Cocciante’s song “A mano a mano”. From there I started to list everything I couldn’t stand anymore and I decided to bring the same discomfort to the stage.

And what can’t you stand?

I can’t stand call centers and phone calls at all hours, “remote” work, aesthetic exaggerations. I can’t stand social media and “likes”.

For example?

Early in the morning I reply: «Hello?». And they ask you: “Do you want to graduate?”. I block them immediately, but they call you back on another phone number.

How do you tell what you can’t stand anymore?

“You can’t stand it anymore” is a state of mind, you laugh and you laugh a lot. I bring comedy, cabaret, songs and monologues. The show is a patchwork of comedy, with a single common thread “Nun te regg…”. On stage there are people from everyday life, even from my everyday life. On stage with me there are actors from my school.

Is it a show that makes you think about everything that’s wrong today?

Yes, but on many aspects. I say what I find exaggerated. On aesthetics, on prosthetics, on cheekbones, on lips, on tattoos. We are all equal.

Have you changed compared to the other shows you created?
