Considered one of the best goalkeepers of his generation in the United States, Gabriel Slonina has signed up for Chelsea. The American signed a contract with the Blues until 2028 but, as expected, he will not join London until January 2023, in order to finish the season, on loan, with Chicago Fire.
The transaction would amount around 10 million euros, plus 5 bonuses. Which would make him the most expensive U21 goalkeeper in history.
To 18 ans, the 1m93 goalkeeper is already an indisputable starter with the Mens in Red, with whom he made 23 apparitions during this current season.
With the possible departure of the Spaniard Kepa Arrizabalaga to Naples, Slonina could become Edouard Mendy’s replacement in the second half of the season.
