The 25-year-old forward then returned to London and underwent surgery. Arsenal reported the deal went well.
“Gabriel Jesus underwent successful surgery on his right knee after sustaining an injury during the World Cup group stage match between Brazil and Cameroon. Gabby will now begin his rehabilitation programme,” Arsenal said in a statement.
Gabriel Jesus made an Instagram upload after being ruled unable to continue at the 2022 World Cup. He felt what he had been through was like a winner.
“If there was a timeline and I could look at you and say something to you, I’d say ‘Gabriel, you’re a winner.’ Thank you to everyone who has sent messages of support and love.”
Gabriel Jesus’ injury is certainly a blow to Arsenal. Manager Mikel Arteta had to rack his brains so the London Cannons could rely on other players as a replacement for Jesus.
