The Brazilian’s recent injury, along with the team’s difficulties in scoring, are reasons why Gunners fans are asking the club to add another striker.
After an electric start to the season, Arsenal appear to have lost some steam in the last month. Their scoring problems continued on Sunday, when they failed to score in a 2-0 defeat to Liverpool in the FA Cup. Gabriel Jesus was ruled out shortly before the game, increasing fans’ calls for another striker.
“He had pain in his knee so we did a scan and it showed something. Hopefully it’s not something serious, it’s the same knee she had had (previously injured), so we can’t take risks. I hope not (it’s a serious injury),” Mikel Arteta said after the match, via the club’s official website.

“One thing is what we need, another thing is what we can do too, and what we need to do now is support those players,” said the Spaniard when asked if Jesus’ setback and the team’s lack of goals changed his perspective on the transfer window. “Give them support, love, coach them and make sure they envision something very different than what is actually happening right now. They have done it, we are not going to invent or reinvent the wheel because they have done it.”

“What I ask of the fans is that they stand behind the team, as they have done in difficult moments. Stick with what we have, they are incredibly good. Otherwise, they wouldn’t do what they did again today, at Anfield and here. Stick with them, it’s exactly what they need, for us to be fully behind them. Then they feel important and supported because they deserve it, with their attitude they don’t deserve anything different. That’s my opinion”.
