“Gabriel Garran paved the way”: the Théâtre de la Commune d’Aubervilliers pays tribute to its founder

“The future of the theater belongs to those who don’t go there. » The formula so well put together is from Gabriel Garran who applied it at the beginning of the 1960s to what would be his land of conquest: Aubervilliers. He then had the support of Jack Ralite, at the time a young communist deputy mayor of the city. In an old village hall from 1900 remodeled by the scenographer René Allio and the architect Roland Boudier, he founded the Théâtre de la Commune in 1965, which he directed for twenty years.
