In front of the press yesterday, the Prime Minister, head of government, gave the main axes of the Transition underway in Gabon. Raymond Ndong Sima thus announced the upcoming holding of a national dialogue on all the ideas retained and the points of disagreement and the establishment of a Constitution drafting committee. The speaker on the occasion indicated that the call for contributions starts next week and should last between 45 and 60 days. The document synthesis period will depend on the number of documents received. According to Mr Ndong Sima, it is the national debate which will determine the timetable for the Transition. “The objective is to demonstrate that the change that took place was necessary and that we are moving in the direction of returning to the norm, and that we are moving in this direction as quickly as possible. “, he clarified.
According to him, the National Dialogue should lead to the establishment of a Constituent Assembly responsible for drafting the future Constitution. This high mass could take place between April and June 2024. “What I am going to ask for is a written contribution in two parts. First, your diagnosis: what is your assessment of the situation? And then, what are your proposed solutions? A secretariat will be tasked with the Minister in charge of Institutional Reform to bring together all of these documents,” he mentioned. “There will be no taboo subjects. All questions, including those concerning the military, will be debated,” he specifies.
