Libreville, May 12, 2023 (AGP) – Initiated by the Association of Women in Mathematics of Gabon with the support of the National Commission for UNESCO, the awareness caravan on the importance of embracing science professions in benefit of young girls in schools in Greater Libreville, was closed this Friday, May 12 in Libreville, with a conference debate.

Closing this caravan, which lasted three days, the Deputy Secretary General of the UNESCO National Office, Nadine Mve Ellah, was delighted with the smooth running of this 1st edition.

“Through my voice, the UNESCO National Commission comes here to show its satisfaction to all the members and teams who led this caravan”, she said, before welcoming the enthusiasm and the quality of the exchanges with young learners.

For Nadine Mve Ellah, this 1st action of its kind, supported by Unesco within the framework of the participation programs, allowed the stakeholders to exchange, to evaluate, against all odds, the aptitudes and above all the interest that grant girls to different fields of science.

According to the latter, the said caravan has made it possible to break down stereotypes, to remove the fears, fears, anxieties which have long constituted a barrier or a blockage in moving towards scientific series.

The representative of Unesco, who had at her side the Secretary General of the National Commission for Unesco, Dr Fred Paulin Abessolo Mewono, said “golden power and already hope for a Gabon of tomorrow composed largely of women scientists “.

“This is also an opportunity to thank Eric, representative of the national office of Unesco Gabon and Camélia Ntoutoume Leclercq, Minister of National Education for the implementation of this activity and their commitment to the fight against all forms discrimination,” she said.
