Gabon-UN: President Oligui Nguema in New York – AGP

Libreville, December 18, 2023 (AGP) – The Head of State left Libreville, yesterday Sunday, for New York in the United States of America, we learn from an authorized source.

It is as part of a visit, which should last until December 20, that the President of the Transition, Brigadier General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema is going there to give a special shine to the end of the mandate of Gabon to the United Nations (UN) Security Council, as a permanent member.

During his American stay, the President of the Republic will meet with Antonio Guterres, the secretary general of the said world organization, whose headquarters is in New York, as well as with the President of the General Assembly.

The timeline of the Gabonese Transition, which will be submitted to the Inclusive National Dialogue scheduled for April 2024, is on the agenda of the Head of State.

On the sidelines of this visit, a promise from the Committee for the Transition and Restoration of Institutions (CTRI), in terms of promoting Gabon’s image abroad, will be fulfilled.

“The inauguration of the brand new premises of the permanent mission of Gabon to the United Nations is planned,” indicated a source from the Gabonese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
