The official calendar for the start of the school year in Gabon was made public on Wednesday September 6, 2023, in accordance with decree no. 0013/MENFC of July 14, 2023 the school calendar for the 2023-2024 academic year.
The start of the school year in Gabon remains maintained despite its political situation. Indeed, public and private establishments will return to school on September 18, 2023. According to the press release read by the Secretary General of the Ministry of National Education Valentin Mbouma, details on this year’s schedule have been provided. We note the start of the first quarter which begins on September 18 and ends on January 1, 2024. Then, the second quarter which will be held from January 2 to March 31, 2024. And finally, the third quarter which will begin from April 2 to June 28 2024. Furthermore, he did not fail to specify that the dates of exams and competitions will be communicated later by the Minister of National Education of the transition. It should be remembered that the network of approved public schools and all public and private establishments will return to school on Monday September 11, 2023 and the return to school for the network of approved public schools will take place on Tuesday September 12, 2023.
