Gabon: the president of the transition will be sworn in on Monday, September 4 – AGP

Libreville, August 31, 2023 (AGP) – In a press release published this Thursday, August 31, the Committee for the Transition and the Restoration of Institutions (CTRI) announced that the President of the Transition, Major General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguéma , will be sworn in before the Constitutional Court on Monday, September 4 as President of the Republic.

“The president of the transition will be sworn in before the Constitutional Court after temporary rehabilitation, on Monday, September 4, 2023, at the presidency of the Republic”, indicates the press release read by the spokesman of the CTRI, Lieutenant Colonel Ulrich Manfoumbi Manfoumbi.

Brigadier General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, also Commander-in-Chief of the Republican Guard (GR), was appointed, Wednesday, August 30, the head of the ruling junta by his fellow generals.

He was appointed after the military corps he led and other soldiers succeeded in seizing power last Tuesday.

The National Committee for the Transition and the Restoration of Institutions also instructed the Directors and Secretaries General to ensure the continuity of the functioning of the Gabonese administration until further notice.

The Major General also wanted to reassure, in his press release, all the donors, the development partners, as well as the creditors of the State, that all the measures will be taken to guarantee the commitments of Gabon, both externally and internally.

Also, Major General Brice Oligui Nguema decided on the temporary restoration of the Constitutional Court, the gradual establishment of transitional institutions and the resumption of domestic flights and many other measures.
