Libreville, Thursday, May 11, 2023 (Infos Gabon) – The announcement of the creation of this new political formation of the opposition was made this Thursday in Libreville by Séraphin Akure-Davain, defector of the “Democrats” of Guy Nzouba Ndama.
The Gabonese political scene has just been enriched by a new political formation with the announcement of the creation this Thursday, May 11, 2023 of the party “Free Democrats”. This is the quintessence of a declaration made during a press conference given in Libreville by Séraphin Akure-Davain, MP for Lambaréné, ousted three days earlier from his post as honorary president of the party “Les Démocrates” chaired by Guy Nzouba Ndama. “We are here today to discuss the situation within the Democrats party. As we know, our enemies are not always outside, but often inside. That is why I am happy to announce the birth of the Free Democrats”, launched Mr. Akure-Davain to a round of applause from his many supporters.
Out of benches with the former President of the National Assembly the day after the latter’s arrest on September 17, 2022 on his return from Congo-Brazzaville with suitcases containing 1.18 billion F, Séraphin Akure-Davain, 65 years, was already stamping with impatience to take the leadership of the Democrats. The latter multiplied the acts did not cease to take over the days of the distance vis-à-vis his mentor. His participation last February in the Majority-Opposition Concertation for “elections with a peaceful aftermath” did not please Mr. Nzouba Ndama at all, in the eyes of whom this “gap” appeared as an act of defiance. Hence the current divorce.
