Gabon: Synamag decides to support the CTRI

Members of the National Union of Magistrates of Gabon (Synamag) decided, on September 29, 2023, to suspend, for a period of three months, the strike movement to support the transitional government in Gabon.

It was during the General Assembly of magistrates that they unanimously decided to suspend the strike movement to support the committee for the transition and restoration of institutions in Gabon. Germain Nguema Ella, president of Synamag, reported that they remain vigilant “ regarding the outcome of our demands “. In fact, the magistrates will resume their service. This decision comes three days after the meeting with the President of the Transition, General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema on September 26. During this meeting, the president of the transition urged them to put their robes back on while committing to providing progressive responses to their demands. Let us remember that it was since December 2022 that the magistrates of Gabon launched this strike movement where they demanded, among other things, better working conditions and the adoption of a text relating to their status.
